Candle Wax Calculator
How Much Wax Do You Need?
If you've ever eyeballed it and ended up with leftover wax (or worse, not enough to fill your last jar), this calculator takes the guesswork out.
Enter your total wax supply, your container size, and your fragrance load percentage. The calculator instantly tells you how many candles you can make, how much wax goes into each one, and exactly how much fragrance oil you need per candle and in total.
Why Fragrance Load Matters
Most candle waxes have a recommended fragrance load between 6% and 12%. Go too low and the scent won't throw. Go too high and you risk sweating, poor adhesion, or a wick that can't keep up. This calculator factors your fragrance load into the wax-per-candle calculation so the numbers are accurate, not just rough estimates. Not sure what your ratio is? Use the Fragrance Load Calculator to check.
Tips for Accurate Results
- Measure your container capacity by weight (fill with water, weigh it), not by the volume printed on the jar. Manufacturer specs aren't always reliable.
- Account for a small wax loss during pouring. Most makers add 5-10% extra wax to their total to cover spills and residue.
- If you're testing a new fragrance, start at the lower end of your wax manufacturer's recommended load range and work up.
